Nikki Bridges Flynn is introduced to Bill Graham

Watercolor on Paper 14" x 20"

Robbie Bridges, son of Harry Bridges, told this story of Nikki, Noriko Bridges Flynn, his step mother, at a luncheon honoring her by the Labor Archives of San Francisco State University. He told many other stories but this one stuck in my head. Nikki was married for many years to Longshoreman Labor Leader Harry Bridges. When Harry was traveling for other business, Nikki would take over the helm of the union meetings. She was very influential in many ways. She is a published writer and recently read a poem she wrote about her life in a Japanese Concentration Camp in California, before the Senate in Washington D.C. Nikki has a wonderful sense of humor and is adored by many people.
