Sam Hernandez Shows Off His Zebra Shoes - 1999

Watercolor on Paper by Betty G. Bailey

14" x 20"

Sam Hernandez has always been a stylish dresser when he goes to art openings. Wearing his very fine zebra shoes, he confronted another zebra lover covered from head to toe. The show "What Is Art For", curated by William T. Wiley and Mary Hull Webster for the Oakland Museum was a collection of work by 100 artists. Sam, a sculptor who works with wood, had a piece in the show. The Satan, leering over Jo Farb Hernandez, is one of Clayton's pieces in the show.
